Inscription.
Amateur baseball reached the height of its popularity in the first decades of the 20th century. This popularity was punctuated by a still-record crowd that attended a game on these grounds over a century ago.

A natural amphitheater, carved out during the last Ice Age, this site was home to historic Brookside Stadium. Constructed in 1909 in an attempt to lure the 1912 Olympic Games to Cleveland, Brookside Stadium became a mecca of amateur baseball.

World Wars and the rising/popularity of professional baseball led to dwindling interest in the amateur baseball games played here, and the stadium was demolished in the 1980s. Today, locals still use this space to enjoy playing baseball in the shadow of Brookside Stadium's legacy.
