A new artwork honouring the memory of legendary rock star Bon Scott has been unveiled in Melbourne's AC/DC Lane.

The piece depicts Scott, who died in 1980, bursting through a brick wall and into the lane, screaming into a microphone, like he would have in real life.

Scott's son, Dave Stevens, attended the event, and hopes the art inspires the next generation of rock and roll artists.

"Melbourne in the '60s and '70s played such a big part in forming the Australian rock music scene," Mr Stevens said.
