| | Historic Montrose | |
In 1938 Pete Gelsinger operated the meat counter in the Economy Market. When the market closed, Gelsinger opened Gelsinger's Meats in the store next door for nearly 50 years. During this time, Gelsinger's Meats also sold to restaurants and other businesses initially in the Los Angeles area. The Gelsingers replaced the store with Zeke's Smokehouse restaurant in 2002, but they still supply their meats to restaurants around the world.
Erected by Montrose Shopping Park Association, Historical Society of the Crescenta Valley, and Boy Scout Troop 317.
