Montrose in Glendale in Los Angeles County, California — The American West (Pacific Coastal)
Shopping Bag
2256 Honolulu Ave
| | Historic Montrose | |
Originally an open, stall-style market that was typical of the 1930s, the Shopping Bag moved to this site in the 1950s with much fanfare. The large white tower on top of the building sported a neon sign which, at the time, could be seen from great distances with no trees to obstruct the view. Some local historians believe that the large Shopping Bag sign is still on the front of the building simply boxed in and covered when the store closed at this location in the 1970s.
Erected by Montrose Shopping Park Association, Historical Society of the Crescenta Valley, and Boy Scout Troop 317.
