Montrose in Glendale in Los Angeles County, California — The American West (Pacific Coastal)
No More Parking Meters
| | Historic Montrose | |
One of the major goals of the redevelopment of the Shopping Park was to move the parking off Honolulu Ave to lots behind the businesses. So Glendale bought homes behind the stores and replaced them with parking lots. To accommodate these, many businesses were forced to build rear entrances. In the 1980s, the MSPA caused a stir when it removed the parking meters from these parking lots. It proved to be a smart move, though, making Montrose more convenient for shoppers. So consider spending those extra quarters in your favorite shops.
Erected by Montrose Shopping Park Association, Historical Society of the Crescenta Valley, and Boy Scout Troop 317.
