Inscription.
With the burgeoning popularity of shopping malls in the 1950s, small business districts started to wane. Faced with this dilemma, the Montrose business owners banded together and formed the Montrose Shopping Park Association in 1968, only the fifth Business Improvement District in the nation. In the years since, the MSPA has been instrumental in keeping Montrose thriving, not only financially but also socially by sponsoring events like the annual Arts and Crafts Festival and weekly Harvest Market.

Erected by Montrose Shopping Park Association, Historical Society of the Crescenta Valley, and Boy Scout Troop 317.
