Inscription.
This plaque is in recognition of the donation of the church by Lucile (Monks) Layne to the Friends of the Maclay Home Inc. in 2021. Continuing the contributions of her great-grandmother, Mary Ann (Barwood) Monks who was involved in the building of the church in 1867 as the First Presbyterian Church of Tipton and Mrs. Layne's mother and father, Harry and Nell Monks, who were two of the founders of the Friends of the Maclay Home in 1982, Mrs. Layne and her husband William were involved from 1992 in preserving the church, donating considerable time and funding work including new steel siding and preserving the stained-glass windows to ensure the building was equipped for its next phase as a Tipton landmark.
