1. Dr. Johnson N. McCartney House Marker
Dr. J. N. McCartney (Physician) came to Lynn Haven in early 1911 from Sioux City, Iowa with his wife and two oldest daughters. They built this home and moved into it during the first summer of the new town of Lynn Haven. He served as one of the three Elders of the First Presbyterian Church of Lynn Haven when it was organized in January, 1913. After the McCartney Family moved away in late 1913, it was owned and occupied by Mr. & Mrs. William Dimmitt from 1920-1942. Mrs. Louise Dimmitt was well known for her garden of tropical plants, citrus and vines. It was the longtime home of Mr. & Mrs. Neil and Clara Carr from 1946-1985. The original front porch has been enclosed and a garage added to the south. It was among the first homes erected in the new Veterans' Colony of Lynn Haven in 1911.

Excerpt: Lynn Haven was founded in 1911 by Union veterans from the American Civil War. The town was named after W. H.
