1. August Brestel Home Marker
This quaint cottage home was built in 1911 by Union Veteran August Brestel of Ohio, one of Lynn Haven's earliest settlers. The house was constructed on Arkansas Avenue and moved to this location in 1922 after his death. The rear of the house was added onto but still retains its original cottage style. After its move to this location, the house was used for a number of years as a rental cottage by newcomers to the area and by tourists who came to escape from winters in the North. The horseshoe for luck over the front door is thought to be original to the home. It is typical of the many Northern-style cottages built by settlers in the early days of Lynn Haven.

Excerpt: Lynn Haven was founded in 1911 by Union veterans from the American Civil War. The town was named after W. H.
