1. The Virden Home Marker

Inscription.
Margaret McMullin Virden was one of two daughters of W.M. McMullin, Sr., a Union Veteran, who came to Lynn Haven in 1911 with five grown children and grandchildren. Known as “Millionaire’s Corner” this home was constructed by Margaret and husband Fred. While most of the family drifted away from Lynn Haven in the 1930’s, Margaret, Fred and son Harold remained. The interior details, millwork and many original items from the Virdens remain in the house. Always a “landmark” home with the surrounding McMullin family properties, it has been in the B.P. Dean family since 1955.

2. The Virden Home Marker
The marker is near the northwest corner of the house.
USA) Excerpt: Fred & Margaret Virden moved to early Lynn Haven, Bay Co., FL with her parents. They built a beautiful two-story home there in 1922 which still stands. Each of the McMullin/McMullen siblings and their parents made major contributions to the newly established town (1911). Fred & Margaret Virden after 1936 moved back to their “summer house” in Crafton, Allegheny Co., PA. Margaret Virden & sister Jennie B. McMullin Brandenburg Wilson donated a building fully renovated & stocked with books in Lynn Haven, FL in 1922 as the “Elizabeth King McMullen Library” in memory of their mother (d. 1916). It still stands in 2015.

2. Lynn Haven, Florida (Wikipedia).

Excerpt: Lynn Haven was founded in 1911 by Union veterans from the American Civil War. The town was named after W. H. Lynn, a primary stockholder of the St. Andrews Bay Development Company, the corporation that owned and developed the land on which Lynn Haven grew.
