1. Yutzy-Butchers House Marker

Inscription.
This large square two-story home was built in 1911 by Union Veteran Samuel D. Yutzy of Pennsylvania (1837-1920). He served as 2nd Lt. with Co. K of the 171st PA Infantry Regiment. One of his daughters, Miss Grace Yutzy, was hired as a teacher at the new Lynn Haven School when it opened in 1913. His daughter Nan Butchers and husband Robert Butchers, Jr. (son of another Union Veteran, Robert J. Butchers, Sr. from Minnesota) purchased the home in 1929 and lived here from 1929-1962. Nan Butchers was the owner of a “dry goods business” located at Ohio Ave. & W. 8th St. (1925) and Robert Butchers was one of Lynn Haven's first master plumbers. Although the house has been restored and modernized, it is an excellent example of the varied architectural house styles brought to Lynn Haven by the early settlers from the North.

Excerpt: Lynn Haven was founded in 1911 by Union veterans from the American Civil War. The town was named after W. H. Lynn, a primary stockholder of the St. Andrews Bay Development Company, the corporation that owned and developed the land on which Lynn Haven grew.
