Whitney Plantation The Story of Slavery

This jail was donated to the Whitney Plantation by Mr. and Mrs. Gary Hebert of Gonzalez, Louisiana. It was built in Pennsylvania in 1868 and was found almost buried in clay. The flat steel bars on the doors are typical of the bars that appeared on doors of slave pens in the large auction houses during slavery.
