The Mets shocked the first-place Braves by equaling a then-club record with 10 runs in the eighth inning to turn an 8–1 deficit into an 11–8 victory. The Mets tied the game at 8–8 with five singles and four walks before catcher Mike Piazza hit a three-run home run that sent the Shea Stadium crowd into a frenzy.

Net proceeds of Citi Field Fanwalk bricks have been donated to the Mets Foundation, which supports area charities and causes.
