Tenino City Hall History

Tenino City Hall History. . , This building once served as the Hercules Stone Company office at Hercules Quarry No.1. It was designed by Walter Scheel. The main offices were upstairs while the lower floor was the drafting department. When Hercules went bankrupt, the City of Tenino purchased the building from the foreclosing bank. Walter Scheel was commissioned to move it onto Sussex Avenue., In 1921 it was dismantled and the stones numbered for proper reassembly at the new site. Walter said it was the only building he ever built twice. Tenino City Hall is an excellent example of the uses of Tenino Sandstone both inside and out.
