1. The Thatcher Hotel Marker
Inscription. Original construction started in 1888 and completed in 1890 by founder and pioneer William Thatcher. This Queen Anne style hotel was built to welcome weary travelers arriving by stagecoach and railroad.

Standing at the center of the small hamlet of Hopland for more than a century, the Thatcher Hotel has greeted generations of visitors and local residents, serving as a place of rest, gathering and community.

Carefully restored and reimagined in 2019, the hotel retains its historic character from its copper steeple and curated library to its iconic bar while embracing modern comforts.

Today, the Thatcher Hotel continues its legacy as a gathering place, honoring its past while welcoming the next generation of travelers seeking rest, connection, and the enduring beauty of this historic place.
