In Loving Memory of
Ralph J. Byorick
District Chief, Brother Firefighter, Friend...
April 25, 1949 - May 25, 1997
"If you don't like it, leave your gear by the door"

For 31 years, Ralph J. Byorick was a member of the North Branford Fire Department. The town and its people have been the better for it.

For 14 of those years, Ralph was District Chief. The members of the North Branford Fire Department have been the better for it.

But it is the members of Company 1, Ralph's extended family, who have benefited the most, because we were able to be his close friends.

Ralph always said that it is unfortunate that firefighters sometimes need to mask their true feelings to get through a difficult job. His greatest asset was his sense of humor and his ability to always find the lighter side of a tough situation to get us through difficult jobs.

Whenever a group of firefighters is ready to enter a smoke-filled building, they will always have that extra man on that hose line. He is looking down watching to see if we do what he taught us. Chief, we will make you proud.
