1. The Interurban Era Marker
Inscription. The Lima streetcar was electrified in 1887 to become one of the first in the state. This Ohio Electric Railway terminal continued the public transportation legacy in 1910. The building included offices, ticket windows, baggage space, waiting rooms, and three tracks at the rear. The system connected Lima to cities such as Springfield, Toledo, Defiance, and Fort Wayne. Declining use during the Great Depression and the rise of automobiles brought about the end of this electric interurban transportation in 1939.
