1. Faurot Opera House Marker

Inscription. The Faurot Opera House was far more than a performance venue-it was an architectural and cultural jewel. Designed by Oscar Cobb, it earned national acclaim as one of the finest theaters between New York and Denver. It was constructed as part of the Faurot Block, costing $225,000. As the only stop for traveling opera troupes between Pittsburgh and Chicago, it attracted audiences from across Ohio and beyond. The Faurot Opera House remained a Lima staple, adopting vaudeville, plays, and even movies up until its closure in 1934. Now, Faurot Opera House's lasting legacy stands as a testament to Lima's success.
