This historic pub dates back to 1730. In past times it has been a blacksmiths, brothel & candle makers. The pub famously appears in George Orwell's novel Nineteen Eighty-Four where it was the model for the ‘Proles Pub. Present day the Newman Arms has recently reopened & is one of Fitzrovia's last remaining independent pubs.
