As early as the 1900's, members of the Historically Black Greek Letter Organizations were represented on campus. The National Pan-Hellenic Council was chartered on campus in 1995., The NPHC Plaza , Located behind the historic Frank W. Hale Jr. Black Cultural Center and centered on the historic path of the Underground Railroad Network, the National Pan-Hellenic Council Plaza serves as a space that recognizes the contributions and impact of Black Greek lettered organizations on campus., The NPHC Plaza showcases the growing diversity on campus and operates as a central space for Black students to explore their sense of self and community and is a physical display of the university's commitment to every Buckeye while honoring Black history, heritage and tradition., According to institutional archives, members of the Divine Nine have been advocating for space, equity and belonging on Ohio State's campus as early as the 1900s, and the conversation around implementing physical representation on campus has been occurring since the early 1970s. This space is dedicated to the legacy of students past, present and future., This plaza was dedicated during Homecoming Weekend, 2022.
