1. 1800 Race Marker

Inscription. 1800 Race is different from most other structures surrounding Findlay Market in that it had just one commercial tenant from the late 1860s to the 1960s. Muhlberg Drugs was run by German immigrant William Muhlberg and his sons, Edward and Victor, and grandsons, Charles and Victor. Horwitz Drugs followed the Muhlberg family business, further extending the pharmacy legacy in this building, which lasted until the 1980s. The storefront was renovated by Model Group Construction, became home to a restaurant on the bustling corner of Race and Elder streets, and remains a vibrant corner on the east side of the Market District.
