Inscription. Dr. Samuel Bedrosian initiated Aurora University's softball program in 1976 and was the head coach for 18 years. His teams won 12 Northern Illinois Intercollegiate Conference championships and were in nine NCAA Division III playoffs. In 1979, AU went undefeated to earn Illinois Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women state title honors. In the 1982 NCAA national tournament, the Lady Spartans finished fourth in the nation.

During his 31 years as athletic director, intramural director, professor of physical education and chair of the Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences, he also coached baseball, basketball, tennis and golf. He ended his softball coaching career in 1994 with a record of 388-165.

In 1994, "Dr. B" ranked fifth among NCAA Division Ill active softball coaches with a .707 winning percentage and third among all Division Ill coaches.

He devoted his life to athletics within a Christian context. He was a man of the highest integrity, and his goal was to develop scholarship and good character in students.
