Tangier Combined School
The location of the first school on Main Ridge (1871) is unknown, although at the turn of the 20th century Canaan Ridge also had its own school.
The second school, built in 1905, stood at the site of the present day basketball court. In 1930 a Teacher's Salary was $62.00 a month for 9 months. The third school was built in 1932, opposite the present school.
The new TCS was built in 1998 and houses grades K-12.
During the summer of 2006, the school was raised five feet to protect it from flooding which had become a serious problem.
