1. Iglesia Parroquial de San Juan / San Juan Parish Church Marker
Mencionada como "Sancto Iohanne" en el Apéndice del Fuero de Madrid, del siglo XII, su consagración y probable reedificación se realizó en 1254. Su planta poseía tres naves irregulares, ábside semicircular de traza románica, torre coronada de campanario y las pequeñas capillas de los Herrera, Luján y Lodeña, y Arias Dávila, erigidas a lo largo de los siglos XV y XVI. En 1606, San Juan se convierte en parroquia de Palacio, lo que conllevó pequeñas reformas en su fachada principal. A estas obras siguieron las de 1646, con la construcción de la pequeña capilla de Nuestra Señora de la Vida, y las de 1670, con renovación de sus bóvedas y erección de media naranja sobre la Capilla Mayor, según proyecto de Sebastián Herrera Barnuevo. La iglesia fue demolida entre 1810 y 1811. En sus bóvedas fueron enterrados el pintor Diego de Silva y Velázquez y el arquitecto Juan Bautista Sachetti.
San Juan Parish Church
Mentioned as "Sancto Iohanne" in the 12th-century Appendix to the Charter of Madrid (Fuero de Madrid), the church was consecrated—and likely rebuilt—in 1254. Its floor plan featured three irregular naves, a semicircular apse of Romanesque design, a tower topped by a bell tower, and the small chapels of the Herrera, Luján and Lodeña, and Arias Dávila families, erected throughout the 15th and 16th centuries. In 1606, San Juan became the Palace Parish, a designation that entailed minor renovations to its main façade. These works were followed by projects in 1646—which saw the construction of the small Chapel of Nuestra Señora de la Vida—and in 1670, involving the renovation of the vaults and the erection of a hemispherical dome over the High Chapel, based on a design by Sebastián Herrera Barnuevo. The church was demolished between 1810 and 1811. The painter Diego de Silva y Velázquez and the architect Juan Bautista Sachetti were buried within its vaults.
