1. The Old Church Bell Marker

Inscription. This bell was purchased in 1904 by the congregation of Elmwood Methodist Church (later renamed, Linworth United Methodist Church) for its original location on West Dublin-Granville Road. At the time it was said that the bell could be heard all the way to the Olentangy River, “as if God himself was calling you to church.” In 1957, the church moved to a new building at 6200 Linworth Road, and the bell was installed there when a bell tower was added in 1966. The bell was moved to its present location in 1998 when the new church building was completed.

4. First Location of This Church Bell

It is at 2424 West Dublin-Granville Road in Linworth (now a Columbus neighborhood), just west of the railroad tracks. For many years and into the 21st century, this was the location of Village Bookshop, a well-known landmark in Linworth.
