W.R. Meadows, Inc.
The company acquired and expanded into the Jefferson Ice Company building at 2-8 Kimball Street in 1951. Between 1958 and 1969, all the land between the Fox River and Grove Avenue was purchased, including the properties owned by McClure & Struckman Lumber Company, Fox BBQ, Elgin Lumber Company, Hitzeman Company, and Elgin Coal and Oil. The Kimball Street facilities functioned until they were demolished in November, 1998.
