1. Old Main Marker
Inscription. "Old Main", completed in 1856, is the original Elgin Academy building. This Greek Revival structure was the first building in Elgin listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building exterior was restored in 1979-1980 as Elgin's Bicentennial Project.
