1. Colton Schoolhouse Bell Marker
Inscription. In 1883, in honor of the City being named after her late husband, Mrs. David Colton donated this bell to the original Colton Schoolhouse. The bell was rung each morning, announcing the start of the school day. When a new school was constructed, the bell was relocated to the tower at City Hall. In 1927, City Hall was remodeled, the bell tower removed and the bell placed into storage. The Colton Rotary Club purchased the bell in 1938 and had it relocated to the new Fire Station. Since then, it has been at this location serving as a reminder of days gone by in the City of Colton.
