Na de oorlog kreeg het plein nieuwe bewoners. Zij kwamen uit gebombardeerde delen van Amsterdam Noord. Slechts enkele van de oorspronkelijke pleinbewoners keerden terug. Op het plein werden in de jaren '50 speeltoestellen geplaatst. Kinderen van toen hebben daar goede herinneringen aan.
Het socialisme had de buurt niet helemaal verlaten. Halverwege de jaren '60 opende de PvdA een kantoor aan de Maritzstraat 7. Het werd een actief bolwerk van protest tegen de Vietnamoorlog en ander maatschappelijk onrecht.
A New Socialist Spirit
After the war, the square gained new residents. They came from bombed-out parts of Amsterdam North. Only a few of the square's original inhabitants returned. In the 1950s, playground equipment was installed on the square; the children of that era hold fond memories of it.
Socialism had not entirely departed from the neighborhood. In the mid-1960s, the PvdA opened an office at Maritzstraat 7. It became an active stronghold of protest against the Vietnam War and other social injustices.
