Inscription. Coach Pepper began his Cape coaching career in 1978 with the desire to "pay it forward" to the next generation of Viking athletes. Over the course of 45 years, Pepper coached Track & Field, Cross Country, Wrestling, Jr. High Football and Middle School Field Hockey and touched the lives of three generations of student-athletes. With a steady stream of dedicated and determined athletes and many highly qualified assistant coaches, Pepper's student-athletes captured 61 individual state titles, 17 state relay titles and 8 team state championships in track and cross country. Coach Pepper always refers to his team members as "student-athletes" and believes that the student part needs to be a priority. Pepper also reminds all team members that wearing a Cape uniform is a privilege and when you put on that jersey, "you represent your school, your coaching staff and your family. Please be a positive reflection on us all." Coach Pepper is a member of the D.I.A.A. State Track Committee as well as the Chair of the State Cross Country Committee. He has been selected as the State Track and Field Coach of the year three times during his
