Coach PJ Kesmodel. . In 2009 Coach Paul Joseph "PJ" Kesmodel took over the Cape Henlopen Girls' Lacrosse team and took them to eight consecutive State Championship titles as head coach. That same year under his leadership, Cape became the first public school to win a state title in lacrosse, and was also voted Team of the Year by the Delaware Sportswriters and Broadcasters Association (DSBA). Coach Kesmodel hails from Maryland where he was no stranger to the lacrosse field and where he founded the Mt. Hebron High School Girls' lacrosse program which was the #1 program in the country from 2003-2006. He also holds the title of being the only high school coach in Maryland to win both a boys' and girls' lacrosse State Championship. During his tenure at Cape, Coach Kesmodel's teams won 99 straight games against Delaware opponents and compiled a record of 144-17-1. In 2012 he was named the Delaware Coach of the Year by DSBA, was the 2016 Girls' Lacrosse Coach of the Year and was selected as High School Coach of the Year for the 2015-16 school year. In 2015 he also celebrated his 300th win coaching girls' high school lacrosse teams, and coached nearly 90 girls who have earned Division I scholarships. Coach Kesmodel officially retired in 2016, after winning his eighth State Championship, on the same day he turned 73 years young. The team celebrated by singing him their best rendition of "Happy Birthday".
