An innovative professor, Neille Shoemaker served Baldwin-Wallace College, not only as a professor of English, but also as acting librarian and acting dean of the college. He was responsible for the creation of the humanities institute and was a founding member and president of the National Association of Humanities Education. He frequently studied abroad and in 1962, he received the Strosacker Award for excellence in teaching. A prolific and creative writer, he often wrote articles for professional journals in his field. He will be remembered as an insightful, scholarly and caring professor.
