Director of the Conservatory of Music 1967 - 1984

Warren Scharf was a groundbreaking director of the Conservatory and exemplary teacher until his retirement in 1998. Scharf led wide-ranging initiatives that included the establishment of the Ferne Patterson Jones Music Library, Riemenschneider Bach Institute, Elysian Trio, Cleveland Music Therapy Consortium, and the Preparatory Department Outreach Program. Under his direction, BW's Bach Festival performed at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and was the subject of a PBS Broadcast. Scharf nurtured positive faculty relationships to build stronger Conservatory connections across campus. Active in the Cleveland Music Scene, Scharf expanded the reputation of the Conservatory far beyond berea.
