Charles G. Irwin was a dynamic teacher, energetic administrator, and witty speaker. He was instrumental in the planning of the Kleist Center. A lounge there was dedicated to his memory in 1974. He was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi and served as its Grand National Advisor. As a marine, he served his country in World War II. As a private citizen, he was president of the Berea City Council. He will be remembered for his bold confidence and compassionate consideration for those around him.
