De 1904 à 1972, ce bâtiment abrita la caserne de pompiers № 1 du service des incendies de Montréal. Nous, pompiers de Montréal, désirons graver à jamais les noms de nos confrères de la caserne 1 qui ont perdu la vie dans l'exercice de leurs fonctions.

[English translation] From 1904 to 1972, this building housed Fire Station № 1 of the Montreal Fire Department. We, the firefighters of Montreal, wish to forever engrave the names of our colleagues from Station 1 who lost their lives in the line of duty.
