This college will be forever grateful for the strong leadership of Carl S. Bechberger as board chairman during the period of our greatest growth following World War II. Successful banker and devout working Christian. He served many Methodist institutions with quiet zeal. An honorary doctorate in 1957 rewarded his constant quest for progress with harmony, which won respect and affection from all who knew him. The annual Bechberger Prize keeps his memory alive.
