1. Mariposa Bakery Marker
Inscription. C. Meyer owned the Mariposa Bakery beginning in 1857. In 1865, he sold it and it became a saloon until the 1866 fire. From 1885 to 1909 Lucy Miller ran the post office here. Bertken and Johnson later turned it into a funeral parlor. In 1921, Charlie Walker replaced the funeral parlor with a pool hall and auto garage. Walker then passed it on to his son-in-law, James Dulcich, in 1933. James changed it to the Butterfly Market Cafι and Beer Garden and later the Mariposa Telephone Company. In 1933, an outdoor theater was built on the site of the beer garden. Jim Dulcich, Jr. and his wife, Maryetta, took over the Butterfly Market and later reorganized it into Coast Hardware.

Erected by Mariposa Yosemite Rotary.
