1812 Colonel John Stevens urges construction of railroad from New York to Philadelphia
1826 Stevens builds a steam-powered rail car in Hoboken
1831 February Rail route, which follows the Bordentown Amboy Turnpike, is surveyed
1831 June John Bull comes to America in pieces
1831 August Construction on “stone sleepers” begins northward from Bordentown
1832 Windsor Hotel is built, and the village expands
1833 On its first trip the John Bull derails
1840 Windsor Methodist Church is opened
1840 John Bull is fitted for a headlight, bell, and whistle
1846 Windsor Post Office is opened
