Together, they provide a continuum of inspiration and loving concern for the preservation, history, and character of Whitley Heights.

Whitley Heights
During the early 1900s, land baron Hobart J. Whitley, aided by his architect, Arthur Barnes, designed and developed this community as a unique replica of a Mediterranean hillside village. It became a legendary colony of Hollywood stars during the 20s and 30s when over 200 luminaries from stage, screen, and concert hall lived here. Rudolph Valentino, Jean Harlow, Francis X. Bushman, Cecil B. DeMille, Bette Davis, Lawrence Tibbett, and William Faulkner are but a few of Whitley Heights former residents. Today as yesterday, it remains a haven for many actors, musicians, writers, directors, and producers who compose Hollywood's current cultural and communications community. In 1982, Whitley Heights was designated a National Historic District for its architecture, community planning, and unique theatrical history. In 1985, the City of Los Angeles authorized the gating of the community to preserve and protect
