1. Butler Grist Mill Marker
Inscription.
Deacon Simeon Butler and his partners Josiah Curtis and Burrage Merriam built a grist mill here at Dividend Brook close to Middletown Road, now Route 99.

The grist mill was rebuilt fifty years later by Captain Butler, Simeon's son.

For a year or two prior to 1861, Fredrick R. Butler made pen-handles and did some other small jobs in wood-turning at this mill.

The mill was demolished about 1880.

Some stonework from Butler's grist mill dam is still intact as is the holding pond which it created. Everything else is gone.
