Inscription. Built in 1944 by Baldwin Locomotive Works at a cost of $264,681.00, number 5011 is one of the largest non-articulated locomotives ever built, with a total weight over 470 tons. Built for fast freight service, the 5011 has 74" driving wheels-the largest ever applied to a 2-10-4 "Texas" type.
