Cairo in Ritchie County, West Virginia — The American South (Appalachia)
Many Uses Under One Roof!
A view of the Masonic Building, which included the G. S. Flesher Drug Store, in about 1925. The drug store was in operation until the early 1960's. It was at that time the largest drug store in West Virginia.
This lively group at left sits (and stands) in front of the G. S. Flesher Drug Store, now known primarily as the Masonic Building. It then housed a meat market, ice house, and as now, also housed the Post Office.
~ Date unknown.
The perspective that this photograph offers can be revisited by looking over your left shoulder and gazing back into time 100 years or so. The persons standing in the roadway appear to be gathered around a sled pulled by horses.
