Inscription.
This is all that remains of what was once a curtain wall around the Tower House.

This was an important part of the Castle’s defences and is ‘double skinned’, the outer and inner walls separated by a layer of earth and small stones to better absorb the impact of unfriendly cannonballs.

In friendlier times, this provides a good vantage point for those too lazy to climb.
