1. -Sept. 11th Globe - Marker
The Statue of Liberty was a gift from the people of France on July 17, 1885 in honor of the alliance between the two countries during the American Revolution. France presented the statue to recognize America as a champion of Liberty and encourage the French to support the same ideas.
After the terrorist attack on 9/11/2001, Liberty Island was closed for 100 days. The statue was not reopened for visitor access until August 2004. July 2009, the statue's crown was opened to the public but only through reservations. Today, the statue remains an enduring symbol of Freedom and Democracy, as well as one of the worlds most recognizable landmarks.

07:59 hrs.: Flight #11 American Airlines crashed into the North Tower of The World Trade Center in NYC.
09:03 hrs.: Flight #175 United Airlines crashed into the South Tower of The World Trade Center in NYC. It is estimated that 2,763 people lost their lives at The World Trade Center.
09:37 hrs.: Flight# 77 American Airlines crashed into the Pentagon's West side. Approximately 189 people lost their lives.
09:45 hrs.: The South Tower of The World Trade center collapsed.
10:30 hrs.: The North Tower of The World Trade center collapsed.
10:50 hrs.: Flight# 93 United Airlines crash-landed in a rural field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Approximately 44 people lost their lives.
It is estimated that 2,996 people lost their lives and 2,680 people injured on 9/11/2001.
