1. Highway of Flags Servicemen's Memorial Marker

This plaque is on the back of the Highway of Flags Servicemen's Memorial.

Inscription.
The National Council for the Encouragement of Patriotism, Inc. in 1970 urged the governors of Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida to officially dedicate U.S. Route 41 as the "Highway of Flags" a tribute to our nation's flag and to our nation's servicemen and women of the past, present and future.

The council obtained this site through the benevolence of the Northern Indiana Public Service Company.

The building funds were provided by the concerned citizenry of this area and the nation; the craftsmenship and labor were donated through the generosity of the Northwest Indiana Building and Construction Trades Council.
