Prächtiger Monumentalbau in Neorenaissanceformen mit gotisierenden Elementen, erbaut 1891–1894. Tonnengewölbter Sitzungssaal mit reicher bauplastischer und malerischer Ausschmückung. Architekt Emil Schreiterer.
Hier standen bis zum Abriss 1890 das alte Ratskellergebäude, erbaut 1486–1501, und die Pfännerstube (Kramerinnungshaus). Für den Stadthausneubau verschwand die Gasse »Hoher Kräm«, benannt nach den hier ansässigen Gewandschneidern und Tuchhändlern (Krämern).

Until their demolition in 1890, the Old Ratskeller building, constructed between 1486 and 1501, and the Pfännerstube (the guild hall of the merchants' guild) stood here. For the construction of the new City Hall, the lane known as “Hoher Kräm” disappeared. It was named after the cloth cutters and textile merchants (shopkeepers) who were established here.
