LeMoyne Washington (1913-1998)
New Philadelphia Walking Tour
These benches are placed here for your peace and reflection by the friends of LeMoyne Washington, a grandson of James Washington. LeMoyne was born nearby and spent his life except for his time attending college at Macomb, in this and the Barry area. He worked for the Burdick and Koeller Orchards, was on the board at the Barry Methodist Church, was an avid local sports booster, and helped take care of several local frail neighbors. He was known for his humor, gentleness, and setting a positive tone. He was the last of his family to live his life in Pike County. He is buried at Park Lawn in Barry.
