Inscription. In this malaria-free sandhill section were the antebellum summer homes of many Columbians: Quinine Hill (Dr. J. M. Taylor, Dr. James Davis); Hilltop (W. J. Taylor); Edgehill (B. F. Taylor); Laurel Hill (D. J. McCord); Cooper's Hill (Thos. Cooper); Windy Hill (Langdon Cheves); Rose Hill (Arthur Middleton); Diamond Hill (Singleton, McDuffie, Hampton).
