Steve McAllister is a lifer in the world of baseball. From playing, to scouting, to having a son that has reached the Major Leagues, baseball has been in McAllister's blood all his life. Currently the Midwest Amateur Scouting Supervisor for the Arizona Diamondbacks, a role he's held since 2006, McAllister is no stranger to Hall of Fame induction. In 2012 he was elected to the Midwest Professional Baseball Scouts Association Hall of Fame. That same year he was awarded the Diamondbacks Roland Hemond Award as the organization's Scout of the Year. McAllister began with the Diamondbacks in 2001 and has been responsible for a number of players signed and crosschecked including Paul Goldschmidt, Max Scherzer, Micah Owings, Brett Anderson, Jarrod Parker, AJ Pollock and Wade Miley. He also had a hand in notable prospects Archie Bradley, Stryker Trahan and Justin Williams. McAllister began his career as a scout in 1987 with the Milwaukee Brewers and was there until 1991. He went on to the California Angels (1992-93) and the Boston Red Sox (1994-2000) before joining the Diamondbacks. McAllister was a fifth round draft pick by the Houston Astros in 1981, played six seasons and was a two-time All-Star.
