From his boyhood days spent hunting, bowl-playing, footballing and boxing in Blackpool, to his rise in the professional boxing world, his heroic challenge for the Empire title, his marriage and move to Blackrock and his success as the trainer of the Cork and Blackrock hurling teams, Pakey Mahony was the quintessential Cork man.
